Reproductions of the Empty Flagpole is Eileen Tabios' first U.S.-published book, and the bestseller to date among all her books. It sold out its first printing within six months, in part because of its popularity as an assigned college text. One of its courses was taught by Leny Strobel at Sonoma State University. During the class, students responded to the poems and one of the respondents was a very talented artist. Here are some of the dozen paintings she made as she engaged with the poems (many of which would later be reprinted in THE THORN ROSARY).
